Tasty-Restaurant Review
Covid-19 has held many a student captive in their household. As a result, many of us spent day after day in our little rooms withering away-I swear I wasn’t always this skinny. Then a miracle. We were granted temporary release from our cells through an unlikely ally, homework. Our assignment was to eat at a restaurant and write an original restaurant review. Although this assignment may seem tedious and almost dull, it was fun going outside and catching up with friends. The restaurant that I decided to eat at is called the Tasty Congee & Noodle Wantun Shop-quite self-explanatory. The restaurant is located in New Town Plaza and is quite easy to find as it is right next to the giant glass doors and staircase (HK New Territories Shop 119, Level 1, New Town Plaza Phase 1, 18 Sha Tin Centre St, Sha Tin). My first impression of the interior of the restaurant was that it was quite open(the restaurant had glass walls which allowed us to see the park outside). Moreover, the natural light that flowed into the restaurant bolstered the atmosphere of openness. However, I was bothered by the sound level in the restaurant. I expected the restaurant to be less crowded and quite due to the recent Covid-19 outbreak. Yet, the idle chatter of the restaurant customers was almost deafening. The service was decent but it seemed that the restaurant did not have enough manpower. I noticed that the waiters and waitresses had to jog to keep up with the orders; some even had to serve, take orders, and check the bill in rapid succession. Personally, I do not enjoy eating Chinese food and would even say that I dislike eating Chinese food. However, my friend convinced me to try to eat at this restaurant since it had the most reasonable prices in the shopping mall. The price range for the dishes in Tasty Congee & Noodle Wantun Shop is about 40 to 80 HKD. Although the price range may seem pricy, compared to other restaurants in New Town Plaza with price ranges of 80-120 HKD, Tasty Congee & Noodle Wantun Shop’s dishes are significantly cheaper. The dishes I ordered were the House Specialty Wantun Noodles(45 HKD) and the Cha Siu Bao( 38 HKD).To be completely honest, I did not really enjoy eating the House Specialty Wantun Noodles. The noodle’s surface was strangely goopy and the center of the noodle was rock hard. Moreover, the entire dish seemed to be lathered in oil which made the noodles and the wantun greasy(even the outside of the bowl was a little greasy). The soup was also quite briny and I found myself washing down every bite with some tea. My review may be biased as I dislike eating Chinese food but I strongly suggest avoiding the noodles in that restaurant. On the other hand, the Cha Siu Bao was a delight. The barbecue-pork-filled bun was baked and steamed to perfection. The fluffy and silky texture of the bun mixed with the tender but chewy nature of the barbecued pork created a taste unrivaled by any other bun I have ever tasted. The bun and the barbecued pork mixed, meshed, and melded together to create the perfect symphony of taste. Despite my predisposition to perceive Chinese food as inedible, I thoroughly enjoyed eating the Cha Siu Bao.

Reflection
I grouped up with Natte and we decided to go to a dim sum restaurant. It was interesting to go out and eat during the quarantine but I was able to try something new through the restaurant blog.
Rough Draft/Outline
Covid-19 had held many a student captive in their own household. As a result, many of us have spent day after day in our little rooms withering away-I swear I wasn’t always this skinny. Then a miracle. We were granted temporary release from our cells through an unlikely ally, homework. A couple of friends reached out to me and we decided to spend our day of freedom at Shatin.

This post really activated my appetite. The price range is also very affordable! I will be sure to try this restaurant out.

Wow! This restaurant seems really exquisite and the experience seemed quite enjoyable. If someone who dislikes Chinese food likes this food here, then surely it is worth a try! As an avid lover of good cha siu bao, I have no choice, but to go and try it for myself. I’ll be sure to avoid the noodles, as you seemed to hate it. Perhaps next time, separating the entire thing into a few paragraphs would be better, as it would let the reader “take a break” in between paragraphs.
